Structure


Overview

The Sewerage Maintenance scheme is built from a number of elements. Completion of these elements can be demonstrated either through:

  • Achievement of a suitable vocational qualification
  • Completion of a programme of training and assessment submitted and approved by Energy & Utility Skills under Endorsed Training Programmes

Pre-Requisites

Requirements

Health & Safety:

Preferably including the Sewerage Network modules.

Endorsed Training Programmes may lead to SHEA so long as they include at least the assessment mandated by Energy & Utility Skills.

Operative

ETP Standards/Requirements for a Basic Operative

  • Sewerage Maintenance NOS
    • SM2 Communicate Information
    • SM9 Assist in preparing resources and segregating the area for highways works
    • SM10 Assist in preparing resources and segregating the area for site works
    • SM11 Working under supervision, restore sewers and ancillaries to an appropriate condition

Skilled Operative

All programmes submitted for approval must cover: 

  • Sewerage Maintenance NOS
    • SM2 Communicate Information
    • SM7 Prepare resources and segregate the area for highways works and/or SM8 – Prepare resources and segregate the area for site works

Plus at least one of the following role specific requirements:

  ETP Standards/Requirements Accredited Qualification (NVQ/QCF)
Sewerage Water Jetting Operative Sewerage Maintenance NOS

·       SM4 – Restore sewers and ancillaries to an appropriate condition

·       SM6 – Locate and avoid supply apparatus and sub-structures

Programme Submission Notes:
o Expected to meet the additional standards set by the Water Jetting Association
o Expected to make use of all relevant equipment including electro-mechanical equipment

CABWI NVQ Level 2 – Sewerage Maintenance
or
600/2046/5 CABWI Level 2 Certificate in Sewerage Maintenance (QCF)
Sewerage Investigative (CCTV) Operative Sewerage Maintenance NOS

·       SM3 – Monitor asset using CCTV equipment

Sewerage Manual Pipe Layer Operative Sewerage Maintenance NOS

·       SM4 – Restore sewers and ancillaries to an appropriate condition

·       SM5 – Carry out inspection and operational maintenance of sewers and ancillaries

·       SM6 – Locate and avoid supply apparatus and sub-structures

Sewerage Trenchless Technology Operative Sewerage Maintenance NOS

·       SM4 – Restore sewers and ancillaries to an appropriate condition

·       SM6 – Locate and avoid supply apparatus and sub-structures
