In-situ Lining

About the Scheme

The In-Situ Lining scheme records registrations and certifications of contractors who carry out this work on behalf of the water companies. Training, certification and registration of key personnel involved with in-situ lining of water mains is a requirement of the regulatory documentation for this work, controlled and administered by Water UK.

The scheme provides employers with a means of ensuring that all individuals undertaking work for them on the water network have an appropriate level of relevant skills, knowledge and understanding to carry out work on the infrastructure using specific designated equipment. Having a common standard that applies across all companies involved in this work provides an assurance factor for this industry as a whole.

Registration is recorded in multiple categories dependent upon which training and assessment has been completed:

  • Part I
  • Part II

Part II registrations are held against a specific job role and, with the exception of Utility Representatives, are limited to designated equipment as specified on the online register search.

Job roles for In-Situ Lining are:

  • Operative
  • Agent
  • Fitter
  • Utility Representative

Full information relating to registration on this scheme under Part II is only available through the online register search due to the complexity of the information shown.
