COVID-19 – Impact on EUSR Registrations

These are exceptional times and the full impact of Coronavirus is yet unknown.

We understand the growing concerns around an individual’s ability to renew their EUSR registration – which could lead to individuals not having a current EUSR registration.

National Water Hygiene

Through discussion with the chairs of the Water UK Strategic Drinking Water Quality Network and National Water Hygiene Group, we can confirm that the National Water Hygiene Scheme continues to apply as a mandated requirement and a valid registration must be maintained.

Energy & Utility Skills are working to help all organisations, where the current situation and restrictions could make it difficult for individuals to complete their renewal training and assessment before their expiry date.  For a limited period, we are offering a Computer Based Learning (CBL) route for National Water Hygiene EUSR registration renewal.

Approval to deliver National Water Hygiene via our CBL system will be a temporary arrangement and there are some approval criteria that must be met.

If you are a water company, or a contractor working on behalf of a water company, please contact our Quality team for more information on email: quality@euskills.co.uk or telephone 0121 745 1310 (select option 1).

All other Schemes

We are requesting that employers and those responsible for any site access restrictions use their discretion towards individuals whose EUSR registrations have expired since the 15 March 2020.

Employers should expect their workers to hold a valid EUSR registration, however, until such time the current situation is brought under control, we are asking the sector to support this temporary measure.

Our response to the current situation is in line with other registration schemes including CSCS and Gas Safe Register.

Keep up to date

We will be monitoring the Coronavirus situation and the impact on our sector – for both employers and individuals; we may introduce further measures.
