Plant for Utilities Scheme (PLUS)
About the Scheme
The Plant for Utilities Scheme (PLUS) is a training and assessment scheme specifically designed for plant equipment operators within the energy and utility sector.
Developed with employers and key stakeholders, PLUS recognises the knowledge and skills required to operate plant equipment within the utilities sector – which can be very different from the construction sector.
The scheme is based around a common PLUS standard for all plant machinery with equipment-specific additional standards for each type of plant.
There are currently 12 types of plant in the PLUS scheme:
- 360 Excavator
- Abrasive Cutting Equipment
- Agricultural Tracker
- Backhoe Loader
- Counter-Balance Forklift Truck
- Dump Truck
- Forward Tipping Dumper
- Material Handler
- Mini Digger
- Telescopic Handler
- Wheeled Loader
