What is the Asbestos Awareness Scheme?

This Asbestos Awareness Scheme aims to assist employers in fulfilling their legal duty of care under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. It provides essential training for all employees who are, or may be, exposed to asbestos during their work. The scheme ensures that employees understand the health impacts of asbestos, recognise materials that may contain asbestos, identify where these materials are typically found in buildings, and follow safe working practices and control measures.

The Scheme has been reviewed by employers and stakeholders from across the energy and utilities sector.

Delivery Model

Training and assessments are delivered by approved EUSR training providers, this ensures that individuals received high quality training and assessments.

Assessment

The assessment involves a multiple-choice test consisting of 25 questions set by EUSR and marked by the Approved Trainer.

Registration

Registration on EUSR is valid for three years following successful completion of training and assessment on a training programme approved by EUSR.

Renewal

To renew an EUSR registration, individuals need to show ongoing compliance with the scheme’s specifications. This involves repeating the training program and undergoing an assessment by an EUSR Approved Provider within an EUSR approved Asbestos Awareness Scheme training program.
