FIA Qualified Installer


About the Scheme

FIA Qualified Installer – is a registration scheme for the skills, knowledge and understanding required to perform various tasks and duties on the telecommunications and data communications networks. The registration categories reflect the different roles in all the networks.

The scheme is for individuals working on telecommunications and data communications network infrastructure sites and categorises the different qualifications needed to work on the networks; it also incorporates registration of these qualifications.

Registration Categories

Registration on FIA Qualified Installer is available in the following categories:

Registration on EUSR

Registration on EUSR is gained when the evidence for registration – and photograph – has been submitted and verified. For new-entrant individuals, evidence requirements include the industry-specified NVQ – see more detail within each registration category.

For FIA Qualified Installer registration on EUSR, it is a pre-requisite that the individual holds a valid EUSR registration for SHEA Telecommunications.

FIA Qualified Installer registration is valid for three years.

Re-Registration for FIA Qualified Installer

Re-registration for FIA Qualified Installer is achieved through an Employer Declaration.  The declaration must be signed by a Senior Officer of the employing company who must be in a position to make such a declaration about an individual’s knowledge and skills.  Self-employed individuals – or Senior Officers – should obtain a declaration from a Senior officer on their last relevant contract. The re-registration is valid for three years either from the date of the expired category(ies) or, if still valid, from the declared competency date. Re-registration is available for the following categories:

  • Qualified Data Cabling Installer (QDCI)
  • Qualified Fibre Optic Installer Inside Plant (QFISP)
  • Qualified Fibre Optic Installer Outside Plant (QFIOSP)
  • Qualified Network Communications Infrastructure Installer (QNCII)

For FIA Qualified Installer re-registration on EUSR, it is a pre-requisite that the individual holds a valid EUSR registration for SHEA Telecommunications.

Re-registration on EUSR for FIA Qualified Installer is paper-based* and a Re-registration Form and appropriate evidence must be submitted to EUSR Support, Friars Gate, 1011 Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull, B90 4BN.
