Banksperson

What is the Banksperson Scheme?

The banksperson scheme is designed for individuals who control vehicle movements on a utilities site. It is applicable across various industries and caters to different types of vehicle and mobile plant operations, including both tracked and wheeled vehicles.

Every year, there are accidents involving transport in the workplace, some of which result in people being killed. A banksperson has an important role in keeping pedestrians safe from vehicles whilst on site.

The scheme encompasses the essential aspects of a banksperson’s role, including key health and safety legislation, their responsibilities, risks and control measures, as well as how to employ communication methods effectively. This includes the use of signals as defined in the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996, enabling an individual to effectively guide and instruct drivers of vehicles and plant on site.
