Gas Network Operations
Application Process
GNO Assistant/ Mains layer/ Service layer
To register for any of these categories we require photocopies of the City & Guilds certificates for the qualification and the modules completed. Please do not send originals.
The registration form must be completed in full and submitted with your application.
For the Mains layer category and holders of GNO Level 3 (Craftsman) the pipe sizes that have been trained and assessed on must be indicated on the registration form. If pipe sizes above 400mm are required an in-house certificate from the training provider confirming training and assessment on larger diameter pipes must also be supplied. Please note that completion of the Uponor peelable pipe course for large pipe sizes is insufficient evidence for this purpose.
GNO Trainee (NCO(G) Trainee)
Individuals may be registered for a non-renewable one year period with trainee status. This is designed to allow the candidate access to work sites in order to complete the National Vocational Qualification at the relevant level (normally Assistant).
Registration is based upon successful completion of an in-house five day Fundamental Safety training course. Copies of this certificate should be forwarded with the completed registration form and registration fee as shown below.
Pre-requisites
All registrants for GNO must hold a valid Utility SHEA (Gas) or valid Gas Network Safety Passport (GNSP) registration. Registrations received for operatives who do not hold one of these endorsements will be added to the Energy & Utility Skills Register and charged for, but no card will be issued. The GNO endorsement will be shown as "Under Referral" until a suitable Utility SHEA (Gas) registration is received and will be automatically updated at that time.
Process
The two page registration form attached to this page must be completed in full indicating relevant pipe sizes and supplied with photocopies of the appropriate certificates securely paper clipped to the correct person.
GNO may be registered by the training provider, the individual or the employer.
Registration forms and certificates must be sent with appropriate covering information and payment to:
