Scheme Overviews
The registration and passport schemes available within the EUSR
take three different forms.
Skills registration schemes - registration is based upon
the provision of objective evidence that the applicant has satisfied
the criteria required for recognition of skills in a particular
role.
This evidence is primarily based upon achievement of the appropriate
NVQ standard. (For people registered prior to the introduction of
NVQs in the 1980s, acceptable evidence included certificates of
training attended and work experience verified by previous employers
through witness testimonies.)
Safety, health and environment (passport) schemes - registration
is based upon successful completion of a specified knowledge based
input and assessment, delivered by a trainer licensed by Energy
& Utility Skills. The course content is owned by Energy &
Utility Skills and reviewed on a periodic basis to ensure that it
remains valid. Employer representatives are involved in the content
review.
Approved trainer/assessor registration - the EUSR includes
a Trainer/Assessor Approval Scheme for those who are licensed to
deliver or assess the safety, health and environment (passport)
schemes above. To qualify, applicants must satisfy criteria determined
through employer consultation (usually based upon training/teaching/assessing
experience plus appropriate industry work experience), attend a
train the trainer course and undergo a successful field based assessment
of course delivery.
